We’ve now come to the half-way point in the pregnancy, and it’s *very* obvious now that I’m pregnant! I think I’m going to be gigantic by the time it’s all over! We’ll continue to take a new photo every Sunday to show how the baby & I are growing.
Arieanna at 20 Weeks
Posted in Arieanna & IanivUltrasound at Week 19
Posted in Arieanna & IanivHere’s the latest image of our baby! The ultrasound was taken at 18 weeks and 4 days. We’re now at 19 weeks and 3 days in our pregnancy.
So far the baby is very healthy and growing the way it should. All our pre-screen tests came up normal, so that was good to hear. We don’t yet know the gender of our baby. During our last ultrasound, the baby had its legs up high but the umbilical cord was running right between them, covering any chance of seeing if we’re having a boy or girl!
Since there’s no “medical” reason to get another ultrasound, we’ve decided to get the “entertainment” ultrasound. Basically they call any ultrasound that just looks for gender an “entertainment ultrasound.” This is one you need to pay for yourself. Given that, we decided to have fun and get the 3D option. We’ve booked a 3D ultrasound on June 22nd (23 weeks in) to see the gender of our baby.
Right now, I’m feeling pretty good. Some of the pain and discomfort I had during the first trimester has passed. I still have difficulty sleeping, not being used to sleeping on my side plus the added weight of the baby causing some pain in my hips. I get very uncomfortable sitting and working through the day, so that’s been a challenge too. I’m growing more quickly now, so we’ll see how that changes as I get bigger!
17 Weeks Pregnant
Posted in Arieanna & IanivSo, we’re now 17 weeks pregnant! And check it out, the start of a little tummy!
Most of my clothes don’t fit already, and I *hate* wearing pants, but the second trimester has been a little easier than the first. Though I didn’t have horrible morning sickness, the feeling of nausea triggered the nerve pain in my neck and that made me rather miserable. Now that that has passed (unless I get too hungry), things are going more smoothly.
Speaking of hungry, that “eating for 2″ thing finally kicked in. Whereas before I was simply hungry more often, I’m now able to polish off more per meal too. Trying to be careful with that.
My body has undergone a lot of changes with being pregnant, and they take getting used to. From my asthma getting worse to how easily my low back gets f*d up. Some things are great, like feeling the baby move. Every day is different and yet the time is flying by. My “nesting” urge is crazy, so we’re trying to wrap up renovations so we can prep the baby room.
I think everyone undergoes challenges when they’re pregnant, and it’s different for everybody. I knew that my injuries and pain would pose a challenge to the pregnancy, and so far that’s been true. In some ways, I’m doing better than I expected. I can sleep on my side without being in agony from neck pain, so that’s a plus! It’s still a challenge, but we’re working on it.
It’s crazy to think we’re nearly half way through the pregnancy. Time flies!
Ultrasound – 12 weeks
Posted in Arieanna & IanivThis is our baby at 12 weeks and 4 days. We won’t know the sex of the baby for a few more weeks, but so far it’s healthy and developing normally.
Standard development for 12 weeks has the baby at about 2 inches from crown to rump and weighing about 14 grams, though it’s growing fast – by Saturday it will be 3 inches! The baby was moving a lot during the ultrasound, though it’s too early for me to feel anything.
So far I’m not visibly showing, but it won’t be long. My body is already very different and my clothes don’t fit. Time to go shopping!
My vantage point for the Juno Awards on Sunday night wasn’t fantastic, being up at the 500 level in the “press box” with the other “online media” who weren’t given access to the limited seating back stage in the media room. Nonetheless, I had great fun and did manage to snag a few photos that turned out nicely. Plus, I was doing this while juggling the live blogging, live tweeting, and capturing of video via the flip cam.
Check out the full set here.
Baby on the Way!
Posted in Arieanna & IanivIaniv & I have some BIG news to share! We’re pregnant! That’s right, there’s a new little Blogaholic on the way ;) Sometime this October, that is. The news is spreading quickly, and we’re very happy to share with you as we start our little family! For those of you keeping track, it’s our 3 year wedding anniversary this Wednesday, and Ianiv & I will have been together for 9 years this coming October.
Our families are all very excited about the big news. My doorbell just rang with flowers from my mom and the first teddy bear!
Tonight is the Juno Awards in Vancouver! On Friday I had a chance to preview the set for the Juno Awards, created by set designer Peter Faragher and executive producer John Brunton. On Saturday Ianiv & I headed out to the fan fare event where fans had a chance to meet & greet some of the musicians. And last night I attended the Gala Awards Dinner where 32 awards were handed out, from Album of the Year (The Stills) to Children’s Album of the Year (Barenaked Ladies).
Tonight Rebecca (miss604) and I are sitting up in the press booth for online media with a bird’s eye view of the performance at GM place. We’ll both be liveblogging – me here in this post, and Rebecca here. The eTalk red carpet event has already started and the stadium is slowly filling up. CTV will be broadcasting the event live in BC starting at 5pm and one-hour delayed across the country.
Performances tonight include Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams, Serena Ryder and more. Stay tuned for updates!
4:54PM – The crowd is getting psyched for the Junos The stadium is almost full.
5:00pm – Nickelback kicks off the Junos with a bang. Literally. The place fills with fireworks, smoke and a bang as they begin singing “Something in Your Mouth”. The crowd goes wild, the place just alive with camera flashes. And the set ends with a swash of flame.
5:05pm – host Russell Peters takes the stage doing a couple of dance numbers, including some awkward break dancing.
“Seriously folks, I know this is Vancouver. But what’s with the grow op on stage?”
It’s true, the stage is a mix of industrial with the lush greenery in trippy colors, a hint to Vancouver’s “other” reputation. Russell takes some time to greet some of the stars, from Bryan Adams to Divine Brown, whom he gropes over a bit.
5:10 – KD Lang and Buffy Sainte-Marie present the award for Songwriter of the Year. And the winner is… Dallas Green! His thanks go out to everyone “who has ever tried to write their own song.”
5:15 – Sam Roberts Band, winners last night of Rock Album of the Year, take the stage to perform “Them Kids.” Video:
