This looks like an incredibly useful tripod, not limited by having to find a flat surface to perch three precarious legs on:
It’s called the Monster Pod. It’s made of viscoelastic morphing polymer and sticks to anything – trees, walls, wire fences, metal poles and more. It molds to any surface – just hold it there for 1-10 minutes.
I upgraded Skype to version 3.0 today. In general, other than some nice look and feel changes, the features are use have stayed the same. But I just discovered what is my favorite new feature: Chat Notification Settings.
Why? Because in the past, when at conferences or other events, I’ve participated in multi-day, high traffic chats. These are chats I really want to be part of but I can’t pay attention to them all the time. When I need to concentrate on my work I don’t want the taskbar to start blinking or the new chat message sound to distract me all the time, and the only way to get rid of it before was to quit the chat.
Now I can keep the chat window open without having it blinking every time a new message is received. You can even add keywords to be notified only when those are part of a message, so you specify your name as a keyword and be notified when someone wants your attention.
Pierre Scerri spent 15 years building a fully functional 1:3 scale model of a Ferrari 312PB. Drafting the schematics and making the molds for the parts took 7 years.
No mom(s), I am not pregnant. I just got a new baby ;)
Actually, I got jealous of the present I gave Ianiv for his birthday, so he gave me one as an early part-birthday present. It’s smaller, prettier and blue:
Workfriendly lets you browse the internet in a window that looks like Microsoft Office. Useless for me, since I work at home, but if you are in an office it may work for you.
And today, in the "why didn’t we think of that" category: x-shaped rubber bands. Apparently they’ve been around since 1995, but I’ve never heard of them or seen them in use before. Very handy little bands. Wonder how far they stretch…
