One US Customs officer to another: "This is the worse managed place ever, even Ripley wouldn’t believe it, it should be in the Guinness book of records".
This is the story behind the quote: Arieanna and I flew to San Jose yesterday. When we arrived at the Vancouver airport the lineup for the Alaska Airlines check-in counter wasn’t too busy, plus we used the self-checkin kiosk, so we didn’t have to wait too long for that. Now, what is different about the US terminal in this airport is that you do not leave you checked-in baggage there, you have to take it with you, pass US customs first and then finaly you get to put it in the conveyor belt.
What this mean is that all the lineups from all the check-in counters have to merge into one single line, which was so long it went through the duty free store and out into the check-in area. In this airport it really makes sense to be there at least 2 hours before the flight leaves.
