Michael Tippett – NowPublic
Demo of technology that will be used to file live reports of the conference.
You can point people to stuff you are reading. A "Public View" bookmarklet can be added to your browser. When you find something you find interesting you can select the content, click on Public View and a sidebar opens where you can write a headline, edit the story. You can the tag it and the story is added to the NowPublic queue. When someone reads the story it gets promoted and if enough people read it, it goes to the most populat stories list.
Everyone can contribute to the news. Once a story is created anyone can add more information and video or pictures. It also makes it easy to use content that has been uploaded to NowPublic on your blog. Nice integration, by just copying a very small piece of code you can add video and pictures to your blog, with extra features like comments.
When Katrina hit New Orleans there were 2,000 people covering it on NowPublic. More people than the conventional media.
Michael just randomly chose a picture of me from Flickr and put it on NowPublic :)

NowPublic looks really good, easy to use.
