Today is the first Blogiversary for Blogaholics. Happy day!

This exact day last year Ianiv made the first post on Blogaholics about the Mac Mini, and my first post closely after that on Furry Coffee Cozies.

Blogaholics took off fairly quickly. Within the first month our topic trends started, as we posted about coffee and baking, as well as tech and art and random thoughts. An early success in writing about Chantico, a post that still is in our top searches, gave us the push to start Vancouver Coffee. And so it began.

We luckily launched v 2.0 of the Blogaholics design right before Northern Voice, and my obsession with writing got us noticed fairly early in our blogging life. Event blogging was barely a thought a year ago, so massive posts coming from a relatively unknown blog were just what we needed to get noticed. And here we are.

Since then we’ve undergone many changes. We’re recently onto v 3.0 of the Blogaholics design. This year we have both quit our jobs to join the world of blogging, both working for Qumana, and me pushing the front on how much writing I can do per day without my fingers going numb.

We have had many great opportunities this year, and have felt grateful to be a part of such a growing and thriving industry. We’ve made many new friends and many new colleagues, and have had a rare opportunity to learn and share knowledge on a daily basis.

Ianiv contributes technically in a way I never could, developing software with an intimate knowledge of the growing technologies in blogging. I, on the other hand, push forward in my growing hub of blogs and in pushing the frontiers of advertising on blogs, which you can perceive from my work on all fronts.

During the year we’ve seen an amazing growth in our personal lives. Becoming more intimate with our friends, getting engaged and planning our wedding, and traveling and working together as a couple. Our intimate working/life relationship has been a positive challenge and a great opportunity for us.

Given what the year has brought to both our careers, and to our personal lives, I cannot imagine what the next year will bring. Blogaholics has been a pivot point to our lives in the last year. It is the home to our knowledge and our lives, and was the launch point for our careers. It will continue to be our home on the web, and who knows where it will lead us in the next year.
