Any MovableType gurus out there?

Posted in Blogging

If you look at the rightmost sidebar on this blog you will see a “Recent Comments” section that lists the last 4 posts that have received a comment. But the comment count is wrong and I can’t figure out why. The code I’m using to do this is:

<MTEntries recently_commented_on="4">
  <li>
    <a href="<$MTEntryPermalink$>">
    <$MTEntryTitle$></a><br />
    <$MTEntryCommentCount$> Comments
  </li>
</MTEntries>

is returning the wrong comment count for some reason. Any ideas?

    I’m pretty sure nothing’s wrong with your code, it’s just an issue with what you’re trying to do. You’re currently showing the most recently commented on entries as of the publishing of this entry. It’s static. If you rebuilt the page the problem should be fixed. Unless you rebuild often or set up your archives to be dynamic, I don’t think it’s going to work.

    You’ll notice now that I commented (thus rebuilding the page), the comment numbers are correct.

  3. The templates for the index and archives were already set for dynamic publishing when you commented.
    I haven’t changed anything, but it looks like the comment count is now correct.
    As long as it keeps working :)
    Thanks Noah!
