I was writing an article over on DVDSkills about filtering and purifying water that I wanted to share here.

It was something I originally saw referenced on MAKE and thought, given the circumstances with Katrina, that it was not a bad set of skills to have on hand. Most of the stuff you really can prepare ahead for – you never know when you’ll need to do it, so why not read up?

I particularly like the ideas for collecting water that is perhaps less contaminated. The one I liked was placing branches in bottles or bags in the sun to leech out the water from them. Very cool.
