Arieanna’s new laptop

Posted in Gadgets & Gizmos

We just put in an order for my new laptop.

We bought the 12″ Powerbook with the new Tiger OS. Was waiting for it.

mac

Very excited! It will be a bit of a transition to the MAC, but I don’t mind. I think I’m finally a MAC person. You get so much more power out of it for a lower price – plus it can do some pretty nifty things. Can’t wait to try the WiFi hotspot directory widget.

I’ll get the laptop in about 2-3 weeks – just enough time to get used to it before Gnomedex.

I opted for the 12″ for the portability options. So much easier just to take it everywhere when it’s nice and small. At home I will use a USB mouse and keyboard so that I can prop it up on books for the most comfortable position.

Wohoo.

I love mine. Props my Dell up on my desk and is on my lap right now. It reall does keep the machine–and my legs–cooler.

Now I am courious about the more power for the money… Do explain.

  2. I had to ask Arieanna what she meant by more power :)
I looked at other laptops and couldn’t find something that would have the same features, same compact size and still be under $2000. This one has DVD/CD burner, 80Gb hard drive, half-gig of ram, bluetooth and wifi for $1900 (educational discount compliments of my sister).

    woohooo – you’ll love it!!!!

I have a 15inch PB but used to have a 12inch iB – both are great.

I too found that the macs here in Aus were better value for money than any other laptop. Their desktops (my next purchase will be a 20inch iMac) are likewise fantastic value….

    Welcome to Mac land.

Yeah I went to look at them. I’d probably go for the 15″, but would really like the 17″. And it got me to thinking…what would stop me from switching? Is there any app so critical to my daily work that doesn’t have a Mac version? I only could think of one.

Maybe next year I’ll return to the fold. Of course I’ll need to find a way to score an educational discount, too ;-).

Congrats, looks a lot like mine. :) Here’s the post I wrote about my first impressions with lots of links to software and other goodies. Enjoy the computer, I’m loving mine. Also, make sure to share the goodies you find, I’m loving reading about all the cool programs people run across.
