This morning I had my wisdom teeth removed, all four of them. The bottom ones where growing horizontally, pushing my other teeth forward. I opted for IV sedation, I had no wish to hear all the crunching noises as they were cutting through the bone.
I went in to the room, sat on the chair and they connected me to an ECG, oxygen monitor, IV. And then they started with the IV valium. That was a interesting experience, about 2 minutes after the first dose things in the ceiling started to move in different direction, trippy!
The last thing I remember is when they put the oxygen mask on, then I woke up and sat on the chair for a few minutes; the procedure was all done. I didn’t even see the actual doctor (I did meet him once, for a first examination). My mother helped me off the chair, I was seeing double and had a little trouble walking.
I’m taking Tylenol 3 (acetaminophen and codeine) for the pain, Dexamethason for the swelling and an antibiotic, Cephalexin.
Now I am typing with only one hand, the other is holding a cold-pack against my chin. Swelling is not bad now, but we’ll see tomorrow morning. I can’t say this is fun but it had to be done before the impacted teeth caused any complications.
Thank God for extended dental insurance, the bill was $1870, I get $1500 back.
