Last night it was rainy and the people we wanted to go out with already had plans so we went to Rogers and rented City of God. It’s an amazing but sad story, based on real events. It follows the story of two kids growing up in a slum, surrounded by poverty and crime. One of them grows up to be one of the most dangerous criminals in Rio de Janeiro, the other becomes a photographer.
The cinematography was fabulous and the story is very compelling.
The special features include a documentary about the fabelas today through the perspective of the police, the drug dealers and the common dwellers.
Very recommended.
